Be extremely careful who you hire to do advertising for you.
I keep a close eye on what the people I hire do to promote my site and recently someone I hired to promote my site used very shady techniques to advertise my site and I am not happy to say the least.
They spam posted my links and now there's nothing I can do about it. The worst of it is they advertised my site on very shady websites and forums.
Lesson learned I suppose to do the hard work myself or be VERY certain of who you pay to promote your site no matter what it is you're doing. It's important you have relevant backlinks to your site so it's a good idea to do some research and find sites similar to yours so you can create a community instead of spamming forums and blogs with links to sites that have nothing to do with your niche or website.
I'm 100% dissatisfied with my recent purchase and will NEVER use the unnamed company EVER again. I'll be lucky if I don't have my sites unlisted, which totally ruins a lot of hard work that I put into my site. With that being said, now I have to work twice as hard to create contextually relevant backlinks to my site instead of hiring someone who misleads and does more damage than good.
In conclusion: If you aren't sure what you're doing, find someone who actually knows what they're doing and learn from their mistakes & always do your homework before you shell out your money, because you might be paying to shoot yourself in the foot.
